Our VerTech™ Network
The VerTech™ Network is a sustainable technology Research and Development project set up by Nespresso to design the green machine range for the future. The network includes the R&D team at Nespresso, machine suppliers, product and machine designers and sustainability experts.
The VerTech™ Network has two main goals. Firstly designing solutions to the energy use and carbon emission performance of the current Nespresso machine range. Secondly the Network will explore blue-sky technologies for the future that will improve the overall sustainability impacts of the Nespresso machines.
Through Vertech, Nespresso is launching a new range of machine from 2009 that automatically turn the machine to standby after 30 minutes. By 2010, the machines will be even better in terms of energy consumption by integrating an automatic power OFF after 30 minutes, allowing them to be compliant with the 2013 Energy Using Product regulation.
In October 2009 Nespresso is announcing its Sustainable Design Contest, powered by the VerTech™ Network - one of the most ambitious and pioneering sustainable design projects in the coffee machine category.
